JEE Examination – The Joint Entrance Exam commonly known as the JEE is divided into two levels that are the JEE Main and JEE Advanced. JEE Examination – Schedule

JEE Examination – Eligibility

In order to apply for any of the two-level of the JEE examination, a candidate needs to be eligible for the same. The JEE Main and Advanced examinations are the most popular examinations for engineering aspirants and are taken by lakhs of students every year therefore there are certain eligibility norms set by the institution to select particular individuals for the program and institution. As per the official notification following are the eligibility requirement for JEE examinations.

JEE Main Eligibility:

• Maximum number of Attempts: Candidates can take the exam maximum for 3 years consecutively. Candidates can sit for both January and April sessions, both of these will be counted as a single attempt. 
• Educational Qualification: Candidates who have qualified for their XII or equivalent exam in 2019, 2020, or appearing in 2021 are eligible to sit for JEE Main 2021. Candidates must have passed the qualifying examination with 50% marks in Mathematics and 50% in aggregate of the QE to sit for B. Planning Paper. B.E/ B. Tech applicants must have passed the qualifying examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical Vocational Subject. For B. Arch, candidates must have passed the Qualifying Examination with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
• Year of Appearance in Qualifying Examination: Candidates must have passed their XII or equivalent exam in 2019, 2020, or appearing in 2021 can sit for JEE Main 2021. Candidates who passed class XII or QE in 2018 or before as well as those who will appear in such examination in 2022 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE Main 2021. 

JEE Advanced Eligibility:

• Candidates must have been born on or after 1st October 1997 are considered eligible for the examination, However a relaxation of 5-years are provided to the SC/ST/PWD category students.
• Only those candidates who have appeared for the 12th examination for the first time in 2020 or are appearing in the year 2021 are eligible for this examination.
• Candidate must have qualified the JEE Main examination.
• There are two attempts provided to students applying for the JEE Advanced examination.

JEE Examination – Application Process

Eligible candidates are to apply for the JEE examination depending on the level of examination they are required to take. For the JEE Main examination, an online application form is released by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on its official website. Whereas for the JEE Advanced examination the online application will be released by the IIT conducting the examination this year. How to Apply for JEE Main Examination?

In order to apply for the JEE Main examination, a candidate needs to register by visiting the official website of NTA, and only after the successful registration can they apply by filling the online application form. 1. Registration – To register for JEE Main candidates need to visit the official website of NTA that is jeemain.nta.nic.in. On the website, candidates are to click on “Application form for JEE January”. Fee payment -Finally, a registration fee is to be paid in order to confirm application through Credit/ Debit Card/ Net Banking/ PAYTM/ UPI etc. Note that along with this registration fee a service/processing charge per transaction & GST (applicable at 18%) is to be paid by each of the candidates.

How to Apply for JEE Advanced Examination?

Those students who qualify for the JEE Advanced examination are eligible to apply for the JEE Advanced by submitting an online application form. The steps to apply for this examination is similar to that of JEE main however the examination conducting body is different for both and therefore some differences exist.

1. Visit the official website of the examination conducting body.
2. Next, enter your JEE Main user Id and Password and then change the password.
3. On the new page that opens enter your academic and personal details.
4. Once all the important details are entered successfully click on save and move on to the next step.
5. Now, upload all the important documents required.
6. Finally, pay the application fee amount to successfully submit the application form.

JEE Examination – Admit Card

Once every candidate has submitted their application form for the JEE examination they are to download the admit card for the examination to be taken. The examination conducting body issues the admit card through online mode only. Candidates need to download their admit card for JEE Main and Advanced by visiting the official websites of the examination conducting body.

It is mandatory for every aspirant of the JEE Examination to download their respective admit cards and get a printout of the same before the examination date and carry it along. JEE Examination – Exam Pattern

• The exam will comprise 2 papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2 of 3 hours duration each.
• The question papers will be in English and Hindi languages.
• Each question paper will consist of 3 separate sections- Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
• The questions will be 3 type- Multiple Choice Questions, Numerical Aptitude Type, and Match the cases.
• The marking scheme will be provided in “Instructions to Candidates” at the time of examination.

JEE Examination – Syllabus

JEE Examination – Result

The result for JEE examinations that are JEE Main and JEE Advanced are both declared online on the official website of the respective examination. Every candidate needs to login using their application number, date of birth, and security pin in order to check the result for the examination after the examination has been conducted successfully. Further, NTA releases the result for all the three JEE Main papers separately on its website.

As the JEE Main examination is to be conducted four times this year the result for the first session of this examination will be declared in the last week of February 2021 and that of the last session if the examination will be declared in the last week of April 2021.

Further, the JEE Advanced result will be declared tentatively by the 2nd week of June 2021. The scorecard released will contain details of the marks obtained by the candidate in both Paper 1 and Paper 2 in physics, mathematics, and chemistry. The scorecard of a candidate will also contain the ranks and marks obtained by them in the paper.

JEE Examination – Counselling

Once the result for JEE Examinations are declared by the respective bodies conducting the examination a counseling process is scheduled by different organizing bodies to allot seats to qualified candidates in the examination. Both the JEE Main and Advanced examination counseling are held with different procedures and timings as explained further below.

JEE Main Counselling:

The counseling process for JEE Main examination is to be organized by JoSSA in the month of June 2021 for candidates who qualify for the examination as per the cutoff. To register for the counseling round candidates need to fill the registration form and fill choices as required along with a payment of the registration fee to complete the process. The JEE Main counseling is an online process and seats will be allotted to students through the online portal itself.
